Today went something like this:
- Got up at 6:15am. I still can't believe it as I write.
- Exercised and got ready before kids got up. Can't believe that either.
- Got girls ready to go to the store--that was the reasoning for all this early business. I sacrificed sleep so I could just go to the store as soon as the girls were fed and ready so I could get back for City's nap. Had to print off a few pics for a present that needed to, but didn't, get sent today.
- Got call from Josh as I was about to leave that City's carseat was in his car.
- Josh got a frustrated wife. He actually offered to come home and bring me the carseat (an hour out of his day!)--can you believe it? Got a loving wife:).
- Called friend, she said I could borrow hers.
- Couldn't get computer to recognize jump drive since Josh just stripped down the computer and did funny things to it. They really didn't end up being very funny.
- Tried his computer, but it was all in Russian (cheaper version) and couldn't get it to work either.
- Just downloaded the pics to Walmarts site finally.
- 2 hours at Walmart and 14 pictures later--yeah, that's all, excellent kids, celebrated with hamburgers.
- City napped for 1.5 hours and only once. She usually does two that length or longer.
- Hazel didn't nap, but she played in her crib anyway.
- Laundry.
- Got Hazel out and started to get pictures laid out to send.
- Left room to get Hazel milk, asked to watch City--I know, what was I thinking asking a 2 year old to watch her almost one year old sister that? I must be tired!
- Hear crash, then baby crying.
- City had pulled down the lamp and it hit my desk and glass shattered everywhere. Thankfully nobody was hurt.
- Put kids in Hazel's room next to my office...
- Vacuuming...and more vacuuming
- Check on girls, new foot wide pink spot on carpet. Red clowns nose nearby. And Hazel.
- Spraying and scrubbing for 20 minutes to get spot out when I look around wondering where my cute little City destroyer went and she was digging around in the toilet, her sleeves were soaked to her elbows. Gross! I know, not safe either, but really gross too.
- Decide to finish scrubbing out spot stains all over our house since our carpet looks like a Dalmation.
- City comes up to me and keeps me company and tries to help get remover on her too. Then I notice her dangling the phone over my huge pot of water.
- I snatch it just in time. That girl is so stinkin cute because she just smiles the whole time she does it, but she's into everything!
- Frantic (okay frustrated) call to Josh wondering why he was late.
- Poor Josh.
- He arrives and saves the day! We all had wet, cold feet from the sopping ground. Josh went around the house to soak it all up.
- Dinner.
- Baths. City is a fish so it stresses Josh out to bath her b/c he's afraid she'll hurt herself or drown herself in the bath.
- Asked Josh to put lotion on the girls. He thought that's what was in City's hand, so he used the unlabeled bottle. After slathering up City and me putting some on Hazel and wondering why it would really absorb, figured out it was shampoo/conditioner.
- Bath #2.
- Bed for City.
- Family Home Evening for the rest of us. Decorating sugar cookies and played puppets with them. Hazel is getting to be soo fun to play with! She cracks me up.
- Opening up a bunch of Christmas cards--so fun!! Wish we'd done some finally. Really, next year.
- Bed for Hazel.
- This.
- Now a little relaxing with Joshy! YAY!
Kind of crazy day, but the girls were so happy through a lot of it that it was actually a pretty good one, just a series of unfortunate events. Thank goodness for a series of good things in there too. Like happy children, helping friends and husband and more cookies in the kitchen.

That is a really bad day but at least at the end of the day we can look at our cute children and know that it was all worth it!
at least your wonderful sense of humor got you through the day.....and the support of Josh!
Have a Merry Christmas.
crazy, afton...i know what those days are like! and right now we're all about ready to kill each other after being snowed in for 3 or 4 days...we're going nuts! :) Merry Christmas!
Merry belated Christmas to you guys! Those kinds of days are such a learning experience for me...I use them as a barometer for how I am doing as a mom. Some days are great, others not so good, but it definitely lets me know what I need to work on!
I remember so many days like that when the kids were little. Kimball especially seemed to seek and destroy, my favorite was desitin all over the carpet. It doesn't ever come out. We just had to put a rug over it. I love that you documented your day. So good to remember.
I love hearing from all you moms! You all know so well how it is. I love the "Seek and destroy" Kimball visual (I need to talk to you Melissa!!!). Great idea on the rug!
