My Exception

I have tried to stay away from political talk on here for a few reasons so far, trust me, I've been practicing great restraint. There are a lot of reasons I'm a republican, but it's primarily because of the abortion issue. I'm not looking to ruffle any feathers or put up false information, but after looking at this video looking into it, it looks accurate from a voting stand point.

Do I think Obama wants to kill babies? Of course not (not once they're born anyway), but the way he voted allows that. I don't care for the dramatization at the end of the video, it was too much for me, but I couldn't not put out the information.

Please consider this.

On a different note, I did have another thought though about the nurse, why do you think she didn't do anything to help the baby? I mean rules are rules and all, that's what kept the Nazi's killing people. Couldn't she have broken them and taken care of the baby?

An interesting point, but I think the video is a fairly one-sided presentation. This article has more information on the issue: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/08/04/the-next-smear-against-ob_n_116891.html

And just to be clear, I am NOT for abortion. But on the other hand, I don't see the possibility of Roe v. Wade being overturned, and frankly, I think there are more immediate issues facing us in this election.

So there's my two cents, while still trying to be even-handed. :-)

and I also thought the end was pretty heart-wrenching. What I'd really like to see is more education for people who are wanting an abortion--I mean, do they have any idea what it entails? Or what it's like to hold your baby for the first time? Or how many people are desperately hoping for a baby to adopt?

Hey Rach,

I really appreciate your thoughts and don't worry, I didn't think you supported abortion. I have heard a few of my friends say similar things about feeling like there are other reasons why they're voting for Obama, although I haven't figured them out yet, I'm interested in hearing why! :) I think I'll respond in a new post since it's kind of long.

the video is not available. i guess youtube has pulled it. but i'm kind of secretly glad - i don't REALLY want to see something as awful as it sounded.

There are versions of the video all over the net and most don't have the dramatized ending which is the part I didn't like. You can even watch Obama talking about the issue himself, it's just his voting record on infanticide.
