This Just In

This just in:

We're about 30 miles from Galveston and I guess we were in the direct path of the hurricane, but it looks like we were pretty blessed! We called our neighbor who checked on our house and she said that most of our fence is down, some shingles are blown off the roof, and our front tree is uprooted--all of which isn't really bad news.

Josh has been wanting to redo our fence because it's totally falling apart, our gate already fell off during a rainstorm, the lack of shingles may be leaking water onto our carpet (it is in our neighbor's home), but I've been wanting to replace it eventually anyway, and we were thinking about cutting down that tree because it's ugly--so now we just have reasons to do all these upgrades! We just need the money now...

It could have been much worse though, I guess one of our other neighbors had two levels in their home fall through and lots of other damage in our subdivision. Still no power though so we're staying in San Antonio for a bit longer. Thanks for all of your concern!

I'm SO glad everything is ok! I have been thinking about you with all that's going on. What a CRAZY thing to have happen - but it definitely sounds like you are having a ball with it and even enjoying it! =) What a good attitude. I'll call you when our cell phone minutes come back - I've been meaning to tell you - sorry that that I didn't call back, we are out of minutes for like another week... but we'll talk soon! Sounds like you've been busy anyway, though, so I'm sure you weren't holding your breath or anything. =)

Well, anyway, you are superwoman to get everything together so fast, with two kids, all by yourself!! Way to go! Oh, and my favorite thing was leaving the car outside the garage! What a funny thing to think - but I can totally see your train of logic.

Love your pics and your new chairs!I am glad you are having a fun time, and that nothing too bad happended to your house. We still have our house in Stonebridge and our renters said that we had some shingles and part of our fence gone. So all in all, not too bad!

Glad to hear you made the trip uneventfully and that you're having such a great time. Also, I'm glad you didn't get much damage to your house. We're crashing at my parents' in Sugar Land until the power comes back on....though I heard it could be up to 4 weeks.

I'd love to finish chatting Alicia, whenever things settle down I'll try you too. Tamara, I didn't know you still had your house here! Bummer. I've been wondering about your bamboo flooring actually. I've heard laminate is great unless you get it wet, did you have the same problem with the bamboo? Glad there wasn't more damage than you had. And I hope that you don't have much Kat!

And great news about the car, I didn't leave it out afterall--Josh took it to the airport and parked it. Yeah, I really must have been out of it packing because I didn't remember that through all the thinking about it after leaving home. I guess it could still be damaged at the airport, but a lot less. Can you believe me? I'm losing my mind:).

Went to the outlet mall one last time today since Josh was working from the hotel, ahh...I'll miss it.

We just got back yesterday and our phones and internet just came on, yay! We were thrilled that our power was on because according to the radio people, 70% of our city is without. All in all, our house looks great compared to a lot of others. I'll post pics soon.

Thanks for thinking of us! YOu guys are so great. (Thanks for being willing to check on our house Patti! You guys live way too far away, that was so nice of you though:).
