Hurrication Fun

San Antonio River WalkSuch a cute little city had such a large cool red thing.
The yummy restaurant we ate at three years ago for my bday. We ate the same place this time but inside, way too hot out. It was 102 at 5 pm!!! Insane. At 9pm it was still 90 degrees.

I just loved the streets, looks like Disney World almost!

Hazel and City are starting to be like real sisters now. Hazel likes to protect, push, and play with her, kind of cute.

This was the "salad" that came with our enchiladas. In Houston, the Mexican restrauants provide that kind of thing with the entree, oh, and also in Houston you get free chips and salsa and verde sauce and free ice cream cones (unlimited from an ice cream machine) at a few different restraunts (Gringos is the best in case you wanted a name)! I love Mexican. I just want you to pay attention to City's eyes. Notice a theme? BTW, my nickname was "E.T. Eyes" when I was a baby. Poor thing inherited it.

Have some guacamole.
There they are again.

And again.
I love love love this stoller. I have only used it for jogging so far, but we brought it on this trip so we could go jogging and it worked great going all over the place.
Hazel doesn't really like cameras.

She just wants to look through the viewfinder.
Gorgeous evening. What looks like a sunset is actually the fire slowly dwindling down, I'm telling you, it was hot there. Our great location, right price hotel. It worked well at first, but after the pipes broke and deposited all sorts of chunks built up from ten years of tenants on the floor (I told Josh it was probably just a few months worth because the guy said it happened all the time) and City finding a roach, Josh was ready to leave. I was sad to give up our great location, but our next hotel was even cheaper and way nicer--and two rooms and a fridge!

This was our view from the hotel. It immediately made me think this is what Stephanie Meyer had in mind for her location where Bella met the shady passport guy. It even says "office." Office of what??

I evacuated Thursday to meet Josh in Austin and Josh had been on the road and was ready to go home Monday since our power came back on that night, but my Dad was coincidently coming to San Antonio for business for a day on Tuesday, so we stayed and had breakfast with him. It was sooo fun! I LOVE seeing my family and so nice when it's unexpected.

Hazel takes a long time to warm up to people, even if she knows who they are. My Dad is great at teasing though and it always seems to work. He's just getting started here.

My Dad's signature niggling under the chin, ahh that tickles so bad! Notice he holds the back of you so you can't get away?

But she loves it.

City wanted in on the fun too. Yeah right, but I offered her up anyway, gotta get her used to it:).

Look at this turnaround? Dad you have the magic touch!
Our last hurrah before heading home. I have to say, it was really fun to eat out for all of our meals. Okay, so we bought groceries for a few, but still, they were fun groceries like frozen lean cuisines and blueberry muffins and cherry garcia frozen yogurt...I loved this vacation can you tell?
On our way out I reminded Josh that we didn't get a pic in front of the Alamo with the girls. I can't tell you how much he didn't want to do this because he wanted to get on the road, but he humored me anyway and we parked in an illegal spot really fast, jumped out, took a pic, ran back just in time to move the van while a loading truck waited for his spot. Thanks Josh!
On the way home we passed tons of these utility trucks who were going to come save everyone from powerless lives. We heard a lot of them came from Ohio and everyone here now loves Ohio. On the Ohio end though, my Mom and Dad were without power for several days after the Ike remains hit them because so many of their people came here to help. Uh, sorry about that. Humoring me again. We can't stop using the peace sign, it's stuck ever since my sister got back from Taiwan and everyone used it there. We started out by making fun of it, now it's just funny for us, sorry you'll be seeing this in many future pics I'm afraid.
I love summer because I get freckles!!!

They FINALLY FINALLY fell asleep. Not good car sleepers. Don't they look angelic?
Every time her leg fell down she's quickly move it back up and still never seemed to wake up.

Apparently McD's doesn't make quality.

Hardly any place to buy gas.
And when there was somewhere, it wasn't uncommon to have the lines go for blocks. I heard on the radio most places you had to wait a half mile. My neighbor waited 2 hours. How about next time you get it before??
Our neighborhood

Our home, mostly safe and sound! Just lots of debris, a few shingles and our fence. Oh, and our food, probably what I'm saddest about.
Our backyard and neighbor's yard.

Our neighobor's fruit tree dumped all sorts of green fruits of some sort all over one side of our yard and garden.
I thought a different tree fell down that I was excited about, unfortunately it was the one Josh planted, so sad.

Happy Hurrication!

Yeah, too bad about the tree, it was so fun to see it growing too, the week before we were just reminiscing about our little tree like it was a child growing or something...and I didn't even plant it.

You're right Patti, we had a great vacation! It was soo nice to get to see my Dad too, wish we lived closer. Cute pic of you and Emrie!

Afton, I just now looked at all of this. Wow-crazy times! I can't believe that you guys were right in the middle of all that! I love how Hazel's leg is crossed. How fun that you got to see Dad!
