Hazel will be turning two in a week and a half and as I was at the Dr's with her yesterday, the nurse asked if we were having a party for her. I blanky said no, then yes, but realized I haven't really planned anything. I was just going to have a party with our family when we visit them right after her bday, but after the past two weeks of her pointing out random objects and calling them "Birthday Cakes" I'm starting to wonder if she's trying to tell me something. And no, she doesn't know her bday is coming up.
I'm now on the lookout for EASY and QUICK birthday ideas for two year olds. I want to do a couple of games or activities with the kids who will be mostly her age (so, if any of you have kids who are her age, feel free to show up Sat., July 19 at 10am! Consider yourself invited:). I've noticed many of you have very creative ideas, so please share. Really, please please share.

Welcome to the blogging world! Also, thanks for the nice comments on my blog. I did make the jam (just used the recipe that comes with the box of Pectin) As far as party ideas go, I think Martha Stewart is the best resource for creative ideas. Check out her website and you'll surely find something cute for a 2 year old party. You're girls are adorable and I love your new hairdo!
I agree that Martha (or at least her staff) is great for party ideas. Some activities for two year olds... it may be too messy, but you could make edible play dough with the kiddos and then let them play/eat it. Bubbles are always a hit. Also, I saw an idea about laying out/or hang up a plastic table cloth or tarp and then letting the kiddos (wearing old dress shirts like they have at the childrens museum for painting to cover their clothes)go crazy with colored shaving cream to "decorate" it.
Have fun!
afton! i love your blog! i'm glad you finally joined the forces.
as for parties, i didn't have a real party until this year when parker turned 4. (the puppet party...it's on my blog.) up until then we'd just invite friends to the park where we'd play and have cake and open presents. totally low-stress and perfect for little ones.
my sister-in-law did a tea party theme with her little girl when she turned two - it was really cute - little cups and bite (adult) size cookies, cucumber sandwiches etc - they played games and made flowers out of napkins and pipe cleaner and decorated straw hats with the flowers and little knick knacks - the birthday cake was a bunch of cupcakes displayed in a tower - it was really cute.
Ballons, bubble, and cupcakes. Seriously, have you met any kids who do not LOVE these things. We have a bubble blower if you want to borrow it. Messy, but fun. Happy bday to your big girl!!!
Keep it SIMPLE! Don't go all out. Your child is just too young to really remember it. Wait until she's older. I did a space party for Nathan's 9th birthday and it was AWESOME!! Marshall only had family parties until last year when we invited a few friends over and just let them play. It was great.
