After leaving the doctors office, however, we learned some family history (thanks for the info Crissy, Josh had forgotten about his grandma). We think his grandma had Meniere's disease and his dad has Tinnitus, both dealing with the inner ear and also can be genetic. From what I read, it can be diagnosed just by family history and complaints, but you have to have an MRI and other tests to truly determine if it's Meniere's disease. If Josh has any more episodes, it sounds like that's what he'd have. Which I'm far from thrilled about the idea of him having "disease" attached to him already. Although, something interesting about the disease is that once you stop having symptoms, you no longer have the disease.
I did a nice job of getting myself mildly freaked out by reading about the disease last night, but Josh reminded me that out of all the things it could have been, this is totally manageable even if it happens again because that's it, it's just the temporary pain and discomfort and not a symptom of a larger problem. And after thinking of it that way, he's got a really good point and I'm chilled out completely now.
I've been munching on Jelly Belly's this whole time that I bought while on our required stay near home, so good things have come from it:). Actually, we've had a really nice relaxing few days and it's been the real break we wanted and probably wouldn't have gotten from driving a ton in a few days with a fun, yet busy family reunion in the middle. He's still working, which stinks, but it's been less than full time so still feels like a break.
If any of you want to come socialize, we'll put out a bowl of Belly Flops (the distorted beans from the factory) and you too can enjoy our mini vacation.

Hmm-very interesting Afton. Sorry he had to deal with the pain regardless! Such cute pics of the kiddos.
