For the next couple of months on Sundays, you may see a theme, and that would be my skirt deals. I have been in need of some nice solid skirts for much too long. My size has changed a little but my clothes haven't so I've found myself with the "nothing to wear" feeling on Sunday mornings even with a closet full of clothes. I have a hard time throwing out some of the ill fitting ones but they weren't serving much purpose once I'd put them on besides purely covering up.
I headed to Marshalls this summer a bought a few skirts but they were nice and summery but it really does get nippy in CA so off I went to Goodwill and Salvation Army. I had my poor kids with me and since I've vowed to not drag them into very many stores any more in my efforts to be a more fun mom, luck was on my side and I scored.
First though is Hazel wearing her deal dress of the day. We have some generous people in the ward and one of them gave me a bunch of little girls dresses, which is great since I noticed Hazel was having the same problem I was having, but she really rotated between 2-3 ill fitting dresses and only semi-appropriate to church (one just wouldn't stay on, shoulders, chest, yeah, really nice).
And while I'm on deals, the top was super cheap, some clearance rack years ago and my shoes were under $10, clearance at Macy's.
Felicity's deal dress is actually one that I wore when I was little. The cute little belt that went with it only made the mini skirt more mini. Why bother putting on a pair of tights on City? Because she looks so cute with torn up knees.
This is today's deal skirt. Jazz hands you say? No, count em. That would be FIVE, yes, $5 (as was the blue one above). It's a nice sturdy thick one too, oh, and soft. My top was from Century 21 in NYC--also a great deal. And can't leave out my shoes, also on the Macy's clearance rack for about $10. Oh, and the belt, from high school. It was one of the things I loved but went out of style too fast and couldn't let it go, I'm so glad I could bring it out again! See, tossing everything you don't wear in a year isn't always a good idea.

YES, YES AND YES. I love bargains. You got some amazing ones. I love both pairs of shoes, and the fushia skirt. You do look like you've gone to a different size. You look fabulous! Another thing I like to do... looking at my closet and thinking "I paid $4 for those shoes and $5 for that and that and that. I am such a good shopper." Why my memory works for things like that and not for other things is beyond my comprehension.
Hooray for thrift stores! I hardly shop anywhere else. Just yesterday the girls and I went to the Goodwill in downtown Sunnyvale. To my pleasant surprise all the clothes were 40% off! I got 1 sweater, 2 jackets, and 4 shirts all for $39. Looks like you got to all the good skirts before I did. I got the girls to cooperate by letting them take some of the toys off the shelf and play with them next to me while I tried on clothes. Is that bad? We used hand sanitizer afterward...
I love the colors of both your skirts.
Very nice! I love me a bargain. I still haven't attempted to find myself clothes at DI (I never have time to go sorting through everything) but I've sure found the kiddos some great finds. I'm amazed at the name brand nice stuff I've gotten there for 2 or 3 bucks.
Yes, YES, I always love bargains. Katie and I were just swapping bargain stories - "No way, only $30 for that coat??? Only $18 for those boots??" Our husbands were just rolling their eyes...we said "hey, we could walk around in sweatpants all day, but I don't think you'd like that, would you?" We have consignment shops here called Spanky's and they are FABulous for awesome designer stuff at rock bottom, used prices. Love it. I'm also a big Ebayer too. Love Ebay.
you are such a HOT mama. really. i wish ithaca had somewhere to shop other than target and old navy. really. it's sad. no place for shoes. AT ALL! i'm dying...
your girls are too cute for words...

You are hilarious. I'm sad we haven't seen each other yet. !!! When can I come visit.
ahhhh...the bargains... i remember what i paid for everything, too, i didn't know others did! i've struggled finding anything cute lately, so thanks for posting and getting my creative juices started again.
Hey Hot Mamma!
I wish I could pull off style like that! You look great and are an inspiration to me. I LOVE your kitchen but want to see more! I can't wait to visit in person someday. The kids enjoyed looking at each picture and oohed and ahhed, too. It was funny. It really looks much nicer now (Heber said) and even Tucson got upset when I closed the pictures of City and Hazel you sent. I had to open them up again. I can't imagine making all of those decisions. I totally take that part for granted. I could never build a house from scratch. It would kill me.
