Pendant Lights

We've been going back and forth on lighting options, but narrowed it down to these two. I just gave Josh the go-ahead to buy them, I'm just not telling you which one yet:). I'm sure we could return them if I was so persuaded.

Here is #1. I like it because we want to put in a few retro elements and this fits the bill. I love the statement it makes and you can choose all sorts of colors to do it it in. Downside is that it's pretty style specific and a little clunkier than I imagined as you can see in the picture of it in a room below. It also looks redder than orange even though it is orange.

Here is option #2. I like that it's sleek and funky and less style specific, although that's a downside in a way too, a little more boring. You can get the suspension kit in black, brushed nickel and white and the cylinder shape at the top, as shown, costs $8 more than the cone shape it comes with, which kind of stinks since I like that better.
Okay, I give up, we bought this one. Well, four of them, but this one. We initially both thought brushed nickel, but decided with all of our white trim and look we're going for, I think white will fit better. Feels like I'm taking a risk in a way to do that since most people would probably opt for the nickel. Just counting on what's in my head working out in reality how I envision it.

Q: What one do you like better? What would you put in your house?

ooh, i liked #2, even before you said it was the one you bought! i like its more sleek, clean look and form than the #1. and i don't think you'll regret the white as opposed to nickel. white always looks classy and modern. in August we bought a white suspension lamp for our dining table at IKEA - i was previously loving the red version, but i think i would have wanted something new in a year or two. glad I got white.

Love #2.....And really, $8 is nothing. Consider it your reward for what you saved on your last Goodwill treasure hunt!!! Can't wait to see them in place!

I like #2 much better. It's just a little "prettier." Also, I think white will go well with the color of the glass.

I like #2 as well - it's a fun retro/modern instead of just retro. And I agree - $8 is nothing, that's a great price!

Can't wait to talk soon! Miss you! Oh, and I LOVE your new skirts. I need you to come by and spruce up my wardrobe! =)

I should clarify, the pendant lights aren't $8, that's the cost difference between having the cylinder shape base vs. a cone shape. I wish the lights were only $8!!!

I like #2 better. And the non-style thing works out for you because you can turn in into whatever style you want with other accessories around the room. And the UFO shape is kinda fun too. Plus, #1 looks like it would be a pain to clean (when it gets dusty) and #2 is a simple wipe over. However, I think the brushed nickle would have been a better choice, 1)because in my mind, it's more retro than the white, and 2)too much white around looks stark and glaring. But I have no idea what your decorating options are for where these lights will be, so it could turn out really nice. Good luck to you!
