Here is the guy doing the template for our coutnertops and our contractor (dark shirt).
Both girls have loved dancing and sliding on it, unvoluntarily sometimes which is kind of funny. City even started crawling for a bit because she felt too unsteady on her feet with socks on. Sort of how I feel after the first ice storm of the season.
Oh, and while they worked, Josh's mom watched the girls so I painted a bathroom I've been wanting to do for ages (I think I've had the paint since the week we moved in, no joke). It feels so SOO good to have that off the list and to have the floor in! Now we just need to sand the baseboards, paint them, then put in the last few pieces and quarter rounds and we'll be set for the floor in this room!
Now I just need to figure out the colors for the walls...I can't stand how the couch looks on the floors either, so I'm hoping to find a great rug (well I found one, but it's not cheap, so I'm hoping to find a cheap great rug) to help disguise the color clash.
It's so much brighter and warmer now, I can't tell you the burden I feel lifted! We're starting to be real people again!

WOW!! Looks great, congrats!! I think in the last pic Hazel looks like a mini you!
Afton - How are you??? Your place looks great. Love the floors and love, love the ceiling in your kitchen. I hate being in transition like that, but I'm sure the finished product will be worth it!
Afton, I love it all! Thanks for the pics. I'm so glad to hear that you are almost back to real. How kind of the Parkers and your friends to help you get there. To think that you ran a marathon in the middle of this is amazing. You are amazing! Remember as Paul Dunn (and Dad) always said, "Crisis plus time equals humor." BTW, I think it is really City who looks like a (blond) mini Afton. Both girls are absolutely adorable! XO Mom
Wow Afton. You've really been threw it lately. I'm sorry things have been so stressful. It is so hard to be a good mom when you have to deal with all that other stuff. I'm glad to hear it's not quite so stressful now, even though I'm sure you're probably still dealing with a ton of it still. I've been known to punch my pillow a few times (with my door locked so the kids don't see me) and then collapse on my knees and pray for help. :) Talking is great to relieve some stress, but when I'm really wound up I need something a bit more physical to work it out. I'll go exercise or become a cleaning tornado. The stresses don't disappear, but I feel better able to cope with them.
The floor looks great - I hope it's working out.
Your girls are getting so big!! Felicity especially looks so much older than I remember.
Good luck with the rest of the house. Wish we were closer to help you out.
ahhhh!! i love it!
Afton, You're amazing! and the house is looking great.
You know what's funny? I would have suggested something like a chocolate brown with pink and green accents (for the red wall room), but I know that isn't really your style, so I don't really have any suggestions. :(
But your floor looks awesome and I'm happy that things are getting together for you! :)
It looks so great and I'm so glad it's coming together! I can't imagine how tough the process has been, but you really have maintained incredible perspective from all I can tell. Good luck with the next list of details and decisions :-) Really, really - drop your girls off anytime you need to run to the tile store.
