Fame

Fame is relative, but I like to consider any kind of public record with my name on (except those darn speeding tickets and robberies on the record), another step to fame. Recently my fame jumped up another rung when my sister's business was recognized in the LA Times. Just read on to be wowed.

My claims to fame include the following:

I had my reasons for using a less-known version of my name, but Marilu is my first name and Southam is my maiden name, so it's still me:). There was some editing done on my wording so some of it sounds kind of funny, but the story is none-the-less true and more importantly, one plug in my fame book.

2.

Thanks to craigslist in NYC I found an ad to be an extra in a bollywood movie. My part would be filmed at Tavern on the Green, the fancy restaurant in Central Park. Two of my friends and a baby came and pulled an all-nighter there. It was so fun for me (sorry Alicia...) to hang out with friends all night doing something unusual. And we got paid $70!!! I ordered the movie and was thrilled to see that I'm actually in it for about 2 minutes. That is real fame.

I know you want to know more, so look here, here and here.

3. And lastly, the prompt for this post. We all know that fame comes and goes, so it was about time I had another recognition.

A couple of weeks ago my dining room from Houston was published in the L.A. Times for being super cool. Actually, they were featuring my sister's silverware from her vinyl biz, but I felt so honored to have my dining room online since it was probably my favorite room in the house.

Now you can tell people you unknowingly know someone famous. Don't worry about the contradiction there, just be proud.

Q: What claim to fame do you like best?

Q: I know that these are all uber impressive and everything, so they may be hard to top, but I'm guessing there is some fame amongst each of you as well, so what's your claim to fame?

That is really cool that your dining room was in the newspaper! I don't think I really have any claims to fame these days. Darn.

AFTON! That's so awesome about the UN presentation! Holy cow, I didn't realize all of those details. Wow, girl that's so cool! I also tried to see your bollywood video but couldn't tell which one it was. There were a lot of little movie clips,. Which one has you in it? I want to see it. Also that is so cool about Heidi. I cant believe that either. I can't pick one of those! Thats too hard. I'd say the UN over bollywood though.
Love ya

You are so awesome - I am SOOO not surprised that your dining room was in the LA Times, and I won't be surprised if I see your HOME someday in a magazine!

Ok, so my claim to fame is that one time I went with my bestest friends to be in a Bollywood movie. I got offered a small part and turned it down and then wasn't in the movie at all. After being awake for 24 hours or something, I became really pouty and moody about it and started crying and throwing tantrums and basically going crazy and my friend who was in the movie ended up comforting me the whole night while I moped. Good thing she has a lot of sisters, so she wasn't scared away by the drama and is still my friend. ;)
