Released--the debate

Last night I was asking Josh what he thought about the release of Ling and Lee. I was listening to commentary and reading up on it throughout the day yesterday trying to decide what I thought.

I'm still not sure exactly, but I do feel like we were pawns in Kim Jong Il's little game of making good with the world while meanwhile creating weapons to potentially destroy it at the same time. It seems like we just gave him everything he wanted and we were totally negotiating with terrorists and on top of it, apologizing for the girls being there. I was so bugged that both Clinton's were apologizing to North Korea about how sorry they were the girls were there.

I felt like it was sort saying to Hitler, "Oh, we're sorry our reporters were trying to find out what was going on in your concentration camps," as it was going on. I'm not saying they have concentration camps there, but I think it's a psycho society with a freaky leader that keeps his little works so secret he gives 2 reporters 12 years of hard labor for a sentence!

All this is not to say that I'm not thrilled that the girls were freed and reunited with their families. I was just watching some footage on tv showing them grabbing their families and crying and I got choked up too thinking of how that must feel. I love these images.

I don't know what should've happened, I don't think it was the right way and there may be some really bad consequences. That said, I love seeing these families back together again.

Q: What do you think?

AFON!
I have thoroughly enjoyed going through your life this summer. I am so sorry I haven't spent the time to read for awhile. I love the beach jumping pictures and the explanation of Uncle Tina. So many things I was missing. I loved reading everything! xo
