Garage Sale

I meant to post this a while back. In Feb I came home from Ohio on Wed or Thursday night and decided to do a garage sale Saturday. I didn't know what was involved, but it ended up being perfect.

Even thought I'm a garage sale junkie, we've never done one because we haven't really had enough stuff to get rid of, but we finally had accumulated enough:). We wanted to get rid of stuff before moving and figured we might as well see if we can get anything for it. That idea helped in the purging process. This is part way through once things settled down.

I have to say, it's sort of a weird feeling having people pick through your things, because really, they are still yours. In all my 3 years of garage sale-ing I hadn't really considered how weird a concept it was that all these strangers will now be walking around in my clothes, sitting on my chair, eating off my plate, etc.

I remember running into a girl whose garage sale I'd gone to twice one year (she had two seperate ones:) and we'd ended up talking for a while at them. Well when I ran into her, Hazel was wearing something I'd bought there, so I mentioned it and said thanks again. Now I'm just picturing seeing some kid wearing my kids clothes and having a little nostalgia hit. Maybe my sentimentality needs checked!

Here is Hazel happily holding our $300! I know, it looks like $10. Isn't that awesome? I think it was just a lot of little stuff adding up. We had a big $.10 bin full of junk like all the shampoos Josh collected for me from hotels and a bunch of t-shirts we accumulated from 5ks and other things. This one lady cleaned out the shampoos for a family reunion coming up, I thought it was a great idea! We even got rid of our hideous old dining room and kitchen "chandliers"--that sounds like way too fancy a word for them.

It was so fun to make money in just a few hours on stuff we wanted to get rid of anyway. The best part was selling stuff I'd already bought at garage sales for a profit, hehehe, I loved that. What can I say, I know how to get a bargain.

Q: Ever done one?

Q: What's your best garage sale find (mine is really two: two baby exersaucers in excellent condition that retailed for $80 and $70 I think--I got for $5 each!!! Sold one for $20:)?

Way to go on the garage sale! I remember running the morning of and seeing your signs and thinking "I know someone who lives in that neighborhood"--only to find out it was your sale! We've never done the garage sale--our stuff gets donated or sold on Ebay. And my best find was this toy piano (retailed for like $50) that Zane LOVED for $5. It completely died (electronic) 6 mos later but it was great while it lasted!

Just gotta tell you I've been loving your playlist lately. Me and Asher have been listening to it a lot!
