Autumn's Marathon Pre-Game

Autumn is so good at getting funny details that help complete the picture. Here is another post from her blog:

The evening before the race we went to the exp around the corner from our hotel and then went to see the Finish Line. I absolutely loved seeing all of the runners and their supporters. It was so fun to taste the action.

On the way there-I couldn't resist taking this serious looking shopper's picture.

One of the first things we saw-the bib pick up. The line went on and on past what you can see. Now's a good time to mention the yellow jacket volunteers. They were everywhere. One for every three runners!!

This was probably my favorite part of the expo. It was a depiction of the course with polaroids of any runners that chose to have their picture taken. This was when I started to grasp the difficulty of the course.

Seeing the recent MBT shoe ads, it was fun to touch the shoes myself. And just as fun to try all of the many PowerBar, etc. samples.

Personalized bibs.

I cracked up when I saw this. It was the final moments of the expo and so booths started tearing down...but I thought it was a good depiction of how 25,000 might be feeling the next day.

Asking last minute questions about logistics of the morning.

After the questions we went to the nearby finish line. Afton said the next day it helped being able to visualize it.

The cool part about this picture is that I ended up standing RIGHT across the street from this exact American flag. Yes, it was a sweet spot to see it all!!
