To Evacuate or Not Evacuate?

On the Today Show this morning they mentioned that in one county on the TX coastline they are already issuing mandatory evacuations for Hurricane Ike (do I capitalize a hurricane? That sounds a little too respectful?), Brazoria County. That would be my county. Out of all the counties that dot the coastline, it's ours?? Seriously?
I got online and noticed that it's only for parts of it, not ours yet thankfully since Josh is out of town. I was trying to get things prepared to leave and meet Josh in the morning (and unfortunately miss the Four Seasons), but they just cancelled his Friday meetings so now he's coming home early and we're planning to weather the storm here together. Cool that that analogy isn't really an analogy here.

I'm having second thoughts now because there is this sweet outlet mall called San Marcos Outlets near Austin and San Antonio that we could go to if I met up with him, but the storm will probably hit there too, so we might just end up in a hotel trapped for a bit. But, if we stay here, we probably won't have power for a while and it would be very hot (at least that's what we've heard from people who have stayed here before). I'd rather be in Ohio and deal with a tornado.

I have to admit, I'm kind of excited to go to the store when the girls get up to get ice so I can see the frenzy (if there is one) of people getting prepared. I love it when there is a frenzy going on in society, so exciting! Just hope it doesn't smash our house:).

Hey Afton, I find your comment about wanting to go and see all the frenzy going on in the society great because I have the exact same view about all of this. I grew up with hurricane after hurricane hitting the Mississippi gulf coast and I loved it every time. Granted I wasn't as close as I wished I could have been but close enough. Good luck with your first experience with Ike. I hope it's a blast.
Riding out the storm with yall, Autumn

So you decided to stay after all! We'll be here, too. Not looking forward to losing power but better than the traffic and being holed up in a hotel or worse (we have dogs--much more difficult to evac. w/ dogs!) Great to see you today! Oh, and I moved my blog to wordpress. Now I'm located at http://justflossing.wordpress.com We need to have you all over for a playdate soon!!!

No, our plans just keep changing. The latest is that I'll get up in the morning and go, nice and early with the rush...so it really probably won't be nice and early:). Have fun here!
