18 Long Miles

I ran 18 miles yesterday.

I can just about hardly believe it myself, it's definitely the longest I've ever gone. It took me forever though so I was bored out of my mind. I used Josh's MP3 player for most of it since it had the radio and I could surf and have variety, but then I was sick of that and returned to my over-used play list on my IPod. I know, kind of a pain to carry two, why don't IPod's have radios???
I also ran with this bottle of water because the last few big runs I've been so thirsty I was nearly delirious and contemplated asking other runners for a drink to wondering how dirty water by the roadside would be. I stopped twice to fill it up and was glad for a potty break too--we had a ward Chili Cook-Off the night before, nice.

Hazel said they were "Daddy's." I told you they looked like man shoes. And why are they on their side like that? Can't figure out the computer.

That toenail came off the other day, can't really tell if there's a new one or not, it just feels firm, but not nail-firm. I'm afraid the one next to it might have the same fate with that blister pushing up the nail, ew. When we ran a 1/2 marathon 3 years ago the same nail came off, strange huh?

Q: Ever lost a toenail?

Q: Want to meet in Memphis Dec 6? Marci--you almost sounded like a maybe...? PLEASE? I would love to see some friends there!

Sorry if they hurt though, that's no fun... but better you than me, that's what I always say! Anywho, love you! Congrats Afton! That's such a major accomplishment! Ouch on the toe nail-no I've never lost one-did that kill during your run????

Thanks everyone! I was so excited and proud of myself I had to share. Losing the toenail actually took several weeks to come off so it didn't hurt--except when Josh would pull on it to be obnoxious. I can see Jake doing the same thing!

I still feel bad that you ran 20 miles Autumn and didn't get to do the marathon! I would have been so frustrated! There's still time to do the half or 5K in Memphis with us Autumn and Tina!

And Robin, thanks, but let me remind you that YOU were the one we all wanted to look like at the Shanty. Do you remember how Marci and I tried your diet? I almost lasted a day, I think Marci made it through two. I don't know how you did that! Impressive though.

You are a running maniac! I am so impressed! I don't know how you find time to train that hard with 2 kids. I barely find time to go 4 miles with my munchkins. What is the farthest you've gone pushing the stroller? I am really jealous that you guys are all doing that marathon. It sounds so fun! Next time, I'm in. :)

Your poor feet! I can't relate to running- I love it, but can't do it. I guess that means I'm out of shape. Yea for you running these Marathons!

Thanks everyone! It's nice to have support since it's so lonely on the road. I think the furthest I've run with the jogger is 7 or 8 miles, but Josh pushed the jogger on an 11.5 miler we did together. I felt like getting them a dvd player to watch so we could do the long ones together, but haven't yet:).

It's not easy to find the time, it's definitely just a priority right now and other parts of my life are stagnant that I can't wait to get back to once this is over. It's not a lifestyle for sure, it's just a short term experience.

Josh and I keep thinking about what it will be like to sleep in on a Saturday morning together again. Thanks everyone!

AFton you should get one of those belts that carry little bottles. The bottles are smaller than this but mine carries 4 of them and they pop off and on really easily and have a space for phone (ipod?), keys, etc. but let you keep hands free. i love mine. Okay and if you're running that far you shouldn't have to carry it the whole way (or run yourself into heatstroke as the alternative either!) come on you're losing your toenailes... for crying outooud you deserve a splurge! lol
